STRYKER FORCE
USA, 1987
Director: Matt Sterling
Stars: Jeff Stryker, Steve Hammond, Jim Pulver, Doug Cory
Jeff Stryker and Steve Hammond play Stryker and Dutch, estranged cousins on the hunt for diamonds in some humid, tropical jungle hell-hole. With their machine guns at the ready and bullet belts slung over their shoulders at all times, the pair lead their rival teams on a wild goose chase that throws up little more than heaps of sex!
This is a low-gear shift from the director of Inch by Inch, but the blue-ribbon looks and large, hot cocks of the cast more than compensate for the film's over-ambitious Boys Own milieu.
We know that Stryker and Dutch hate each other, as before the lost-treasure plotline kicks in, they have a turf-war brawl at an abandoned railway, where Stryker comes to the defence of his pals, Jim Pulver and Ted Dowell, who are fucking in a train, which is not at all surprising considering that Pulver only ever appears in Sterling scenes set in train carriages. Dutch and his gang, for no apparent reason, want to bash Pulver and Dowell, but it's Stryker, rushing to the scene on his Harley, who arrives to save the day in an absolutely hilarious scene of trash-talk and staged kick boxing. One by one, Dutch's gang are dispensed with punches that land a few inches from their faces, and even the ones wielding flick knives quail at Stryker's nimble presence.
To the jungle! Gavin Jeffrey is the native boy who hangs out in the treetops and wears stripes of war paint, and who is fascinated by the argy-bargy of the horny Westerners he spies in the glades below. As Stryker, Hammond and all and sundry fuck each other day and night, Jeffrey watches them and masturbates with a quizzical expression on his face. And who wouldn't be bemused by the unexpected sight of Hammond giving it to Kevin Williams and Stryker dry fucking some poor grunt during a sudden downpour. It's not the kind of thing you see everyday, especially if you've been raised by monkeys.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, Stryker and Dutch return to LA and have sex with each other before Stryker gets some really good news in the mail and the film ends with him high-fiving the air.
This isn't Sterling's best film, and, contrary to many reviews, doesn't contain any particularly special performance from Stryker either. What it is, is an interesting attempt from a porn master to jazz up his predictably hot sex scenes with a suitably sweaty, manly/boyish setting. My guess is that a bit of money went into this production, even if it was filmed in someone's greenhouse, and that somewhere along the line, Sterling felt he may have been hammering together some kind of revolutionary porn/narrative hybrid.
He didn't succeed in that endeavour, but the sex between the very attractive stars of this film is spectacular.
