About the Festival The Festival ran from March to May, 2007. Ten finalists were selected and appraised by a five-member jury panel. Entry was free, all enbtries were screened, and finalists will screen here for the rest of the year. Entries were not sorted into categories. Winners and finalists are posted below. |

Dinner Conversation Praise From The Judges: Elegant and hilarious - well done. Charming confection. A lovely sonata was made out of a very ordinary melody. Short, simple with no flourishes or fancy bits this film
Little Gold Cowboy Praise From The Judges: How refreshing that the "queer" creature is a sexy angel in chaps, walking down a dusty street in star spurs, picking up glances and yet amusingly, absurdly self-contained. Unusual story, enjoyably “queer”, cool lighting and cinema-feel - great fetish value. This hypnotic Gothic dreamscape is reminiscent of the work of Tim Burton.
Disappointment Praise From The Judges: A very impressive work indeed. Hours later I found myself thinking about this film, its look and its sound. A fascinating combination of visuals showing a contemporary city symphony.

Str8 For A Minute Praise From The Judges: Sometimes less is more. This little one-minute film is brilliant. A tiny gem is still a gem. Fun and straight (no pun intended) to the point. Very Brady Bunch.
Praise From The Judges: The film reminded me of certain passages in Carnival of Souls, a cheaply made cult film from the '60s that had many of the same dreamy nightmare touches. The use of leitmotif and absence of dialogue created a compelling dream/nightmare effect that wouldn't have been out of place in the "Silencio" sequence of David Lynch's Mullhollhand Drive. It was great to see stylistic choices work for the story rather then against it.
Praise From The Judges: Beautiful looking film, wonderful acting. Completely enthralling and really impressive. The leading man is so watchable. |
